Our commitment to privacy
Helder is built from the ground up as a privacy-first web analytics tool. Our business model is based on charging subscription fees, not selling your data. We do not track, profile, or monetize visitor behavior on your site.
What we collect (and why)
We process aggregate, anonymous website statistics to help developers and founders understand how their websites are used. Here is exactly what we collect:
- Page URLs: The path of pages visited (e.g.
/about). - Referrer: Where the visitor came from (e.g.
github.com). - Device & Browser: Technical metadata to help optimize site presentation (e.g. Mobile, Safari).
- Country: Approximate location based on GeoIP, stripped before database entry.
- UTM Parameters: Query strings used for tracking marketing campaigns (source, medium, campaign).
What we DO NOT collect
We intentionally avoid gathering any personal data or persistent identifiers. Specifically:
- No cookies: We do not write tracking cookies to the browser storage.
- No IP Storage: Visitor IP addresses are immediately run through a one-way salt hash containing the date and site domain, then discarded. We never store raw IP addresses in the database.
- No Cross-Site Tracking: We cannot identify a visitor across different websites.
Data sovereignty
All databases and servers are hosted within the European Union (Germany). Your analytics data never leaves the EU, ensuring complete compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
